We are so excited to be welcoming such fantastic events into our home town this Spring!
First up we have the fantastic Gourock Highland Games returning to Battery Park after a long awaited wait because of COVID on Sunday the 8th of May!
Then Inverclyde are hosting the British Pipe Band Championships, in welcoming over 100 bands to Inverclyde on Saturday 21st May at Battery Park. Both are part of Inverclyde Council’s flagship Meliora Festival which will also include the Inverclyde Warrior 5k obstacle course, also at Battery Park, on 11 June, a special Scotland v England girls’ under-15s anniversary international football match at Ravenscraig Stadium on 15 May and a visual arts spectacular which is still to be announced.
The name of the festival, Meliora, is inspired by the motto on Inverclyde’s crest – “Meliora semper prospicimus” which means “We look forward to better things”.
Councilor Jim Clocherty, Deputy Head of Inverclyde Council and Education and Communities Organizer, said: “Meliora is shaping up to be a brilliant festival for residents and visitors alike, promoting physical activity and of the arts through theater and live music.
This is such an awesome opportunity for us all to showcase how great our local area is and what Inverclyde has to offer!
We will be taking stalls at these events so make sure to pop along and say hi along with a wee free sample of Inverclyde finest! Show this Blog post to get 10% off at our stalls!
